Our room is compact but has all of the necessities. We have a mountain view and can watch the clouds come over the Pali and dump their moisture on the slopes above Waikiki. In the evening Kalakaua is alive with buskars entertaining the crowds.

Today was an exciting day for science as asteroid 2012 DA 14 passed within only 17,000 miles of the earth and Hawaii was a great place to see it from. One photo is of the asteroid taken from Earth. The other photo is of the Earth taken from the asteroid. You won't see these on CNN.
After a bit of a delay, we are now getting settled into our much anticipated vacation. The weather is perfect today and we enjoyed watching the mass of activity on the beach. More later.
