January 21, 2007. The Pineapple Express is the name given to the strong winds that blow out of the Pacific Ocean from the vicinity of Hawaii bringing winter storms and heavy rain to the British Columbia coast and the US Pacific Northwest. While this phenomenon has been brutal to the Pacific Coast this winter, it has provided Alberta with an extremely mild winter. For us it's a good thing. We hope to enjoy even better weather as we look forward to spending four weeks in Oahu. Follow our blog as we depart Calgary on January 28th to enjoy a few weeks of sun and sand in beautiful Hawaii.
