January 29, 2007, Monday, Day 2
The Waikiki Sand Villa Hotel is situated on the corner of Ala Wai Boulevard and Kanekapolei, just two blocks from the beach. It provides the basics, a bed, bathroom, lanais, TV, fridge, and safe, all neatly compacted into about 150 square feet. But what wasn’t advertised was the ocean glimpse. (See photo taken on high telephoto). The view in the other direction is much better, the Ala Wai Golf Course and the mountains. Our task today was to travel by bus to the far side of Honolulu to buy, yes a bus pass. If we use them enough they will pay for themselves, if not, at least it will avoid finding $2 each trip. It’s been very windy, the Pineapple Express obviously originates somewhere to the west of here. The windsurfers and kite surfers were really enjoying the wind off of Waikiki today. There is a lot of reconstruction here, two of our favourite restaurants from two years ago are gone. We will have to search out new ones.

As in the past, the system won't allow upload of photos. I will work on this.
